UPS, FedEx, and Endicia use 6"x4". Interfaces: USB, Parallel, or Serial, just like an ordinary inkjet/laser printer. Parallel connection is often easier to setup than USB connection. CONTENTS: 1 LP2844 printer, 1 ac adapter, 1 parallel printer cable, 1 usb cable. Manual, driver, EPL2 programming guide (used to design own specific labels) can be downloaded from zebra.com, they are not included. Thermal label paper is NOT included. If you ship lots of packages everyday through certain shipping company, then the shipping company might consider to provide them for FREE. Yet if you ship too few packages, you might want to buy from specific shipping company, or ebay. Ebay often has them to sell at $1 to $5/roll (please search "2844 labels", "4x6 labels", "4 x 6 labels" etc. on ebay). It could use other size of labels, width could vary between 1" to 4.25". COMPATIBILITY: Item was tested to work with UPS WorldShip, UPS web site, FedEx web site, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia Dazzle (a USPS software company), under Windows XP. HIDE POSTAGES! --> No guarantee on Paypal USPS ship method (although there are customers who ever reported successful to us: just set the printer as another model which paypal knows about). No guarantee on any other softwares. (In fact, many Windows programs such as Word, Internet Explorer (IE) etc. can print to it directly.) --> It is clearly stated on LP2844 manual that sometimes it is tricky to find an optimal printing speed/darkness setting for thermal printers. Speed/darkness can be controled by both printing softwares and printer properties in control panel. To change speed/darkness settings in control panel, right click 2844 printers, go to "Properties", go to "Printing Preference", then "Advanced". For UPS, use the driver from UPS web site (after login, go to "My UPS", "Shipping", "Create a Shipment", "Set Preferences", "Install UPS Thermal Printer"). For Endicia/FedEx or other programs, please use driver from zebra.com, especially HERE. As said, sometimes you need adjust speed and darkness/density settings to obtain best results. OPERATING SYSTEMS: Windows XP, 2000. Zebra.com has updated driver for Windows Vista, but we have never tried the vista version yet. No idea about Mac OS or Unix/Linux, zebra.com has no driver for Mac OS or Unix/Linux. WARRANTY: Off-lease products, seller assumes 30-day function warranty, replace only. No test thus no guarantee on softwares other than UPS WorldShip, UPS web site, FedEx Ship Manager, FedEx web site, and Endicia. The AC adapter is a working replacement of original, its specification may vary a little bit from original. It was tested to work fine. Item could have a little scratches etc. minor cosmetic imperfections. For customer who want to use its USB connection: Sometimes it is a little troublesome to set up USB printers, due to Windows may re-assign a new USB port # everytime you disconnect and re-connect a USB device. You might have to change USB port setting manually in control panel, and/or reboot Windows, re-add a new printer. Please don't report to us that our printer doesn't work if you have only tried USB connections. You may need tear off a printed label first before the printer prints another one. The printer has some advanced sensors to sense the human tear-off action. Self-test procedure: Turn off power switch, hold the green button, turn on power, till green button becomes in flashing red, release green button. It should spit 3 empty pages, then print one diagnostic data page. After that, please hit the green button once more, it will spit another page with "Out of dump" on it, this ends dump mode (self-test mode), returns the printer to normal printing mode.
